Paradores is a state owned company that helps maintain old Spanish architectural sites and transforms them into beautiful hotels preserving the local flavor of where it was built.
A short 50-minute drive from Madrid or 7 miles from Segovia, in the heart of the Sierra of Guadarrama Mountains there is La Granja of San Ildefonso´s royal town. About 3 years ago, Paradores rebuilt a 300-year-old palace used for the King’s children and the building next to it for its special guard. Now, the new Parador of “La Granja” is a 4 star hotel with spa, convention center and many other amenities.
I recently stayed for a couple of nights at the Parador of La Granja and had a great time. I was impressed with the service at the hotel and how helpful the employees were. It is located in the middle of the town very near all of the main attractions of the site. I definitely recommend staying in this Parador if you come to visit La Granja. They are well prepared to take care of families with young children, but I also recommend it for young couples or romantic escapes.
Most of the pictures I took were shot during nighttime and some of them look great in black and white. I will definitely come back to the Parador of La Granja.
